AJAX MotionProtect Outdoor is a wireless outdoor motion detector with protection against masking and false activation. It is connected to the AJAX security system using the jeweler’s security protocol, and has a range of up to 1,700 meters in the absence of obstacles. The detector can operate for up to 5 years on pre-installed batteries or from an external power source.

Where to install this detector

Install MotionProtect Outdoor in your garden or driveway at a height of between 80 and 130 centimetres, where 1 metre would be ideal. This way, you’ll only receive notifications from real visitors, not dogs, cats or plants moving in the wind.

Detection method

When the system is switched on, the detector continuously receives signals from two PIR sensors. When motion is detected, AJAX MotionProtect Outdoor immediately sends the signal to the Hub, which triggers the alarm. This signal is indicated by a flashing green LED. The signal is sent to the Hub only when the detector’s two thermal sensors detect identical motion signals.

The best position for AJAX MotionProtect Outdoor

To determine the position of the detector, you can perform a signal test to determine whether the signal sent to the concentrator is strong enough to record everything. Thanks to jewelers’ technology, this shouldn’t be a problem for most households, even the largest. Thanks to the detection zone test, you can easily walk around the area to be protected. The detector lamp is constantly lit during the detection test. As soon as motion is detected, it switches off to let you know you’ve been seen.

Pets allowed

AJAX MotionProtect Outdoor will not generate an alarm if the two sensors do not perceive the same thing. Animals such as birds, cats and dogs in the garden can never trigger the alarm.

MotionProtect Outdoor detection range

Use this switch to set the beam angle of the lower sensor. This sensor determines the extent to which the detector checks for the presence of people.

Radiation angle
Depending on the position of the switch on the back of the detector, the detection radius of the lower sensor will be between 3 and 15 metres. The top sensor always beams straight ahead. In a large garden, we recommend setting the switch to 15 meters.

Installation height

The MotionProtect Outdoor detector should be mounted at a height of between 80 cm and 130 cm. For optimum detection, we recommend a height of 100 cm. Install the detector so that the upper sensor is parallel to the ground. In the case of uneven ground, the mounting height is measured from the highest point of the area monitored by the detector.

Detection model
The detection pattern then looks like this: a 90-degree angle over a distance of up to 15 metres. Of course, the detector can also be mounted at an angle.

LISA intelligent algorithm to prevent false alarms

Accurately detects people: LISA makes MotionProtect Outdoor a formidable barrier to intruders. The digital algorithm accurately identifies a person’s movements, ignoring animals, the movement of tree branches and plants, as well as birds and insects landing on the detector.

Ignores all unimportant events

LISA analyzes the similarity of signals from two sensors in two stages. If the signals appear similar in the first step, but the similarity detected is insufficient to trigger an alarm, the spectral component comparison is initiated. It ignores trees swaying in the detector’s field of vision.

The detector ignores shrubs up to 80 cm high and trees whose tops only pass through the upper beam.
